Agartala: Nov 03: A farmers’ association has publicly criticized the state government for its failure to deliver promised compensation to those affected by recent devastating floods. Areas such as Amarpur, Udaypur, Sonamura, and other regions in the South District were severely impacted, leaving approximately 2.5 lakh farmers facing significant losses to their crops and livelihoods.

The association has expressed frustration over the government’s lack of action, emphasizing that the promised financial assistance was crucial for farmers struggling to recover from the disaster. Many farmers are in dire need of support to rebuild their lives and restore their agricultural activities. The delay in compensation has exacerbated their plight, with many families facing food insecurity and financial hardship.

In light of these circumstances, the farmers’ association has formally demanded a meeting with the Chief Minister to address the issue directly. They seek a platform to voice their grievances and discuss a resolution that would ensure timely and adequate compensation for all affected farmers. The association’s leaders have underscored the urgency of the situation, urging the government to take immediate action to support those in need.

The overall tone of the farmers’ association’s statement is critical of the government’s response to the crisis. They argue that the lack of prompt assistance not only undermines the trust between the farmers and the government but also jeopardizes the future of agriculture in the region. As the farmers continue to advocate for their rights, they hope that their concerns will be heard and addressed before the situation worsens. The association remains steadfast in its commitment to ensure that farmers receive the support they desperately need to recover from this natural disaster.
