Tripura Moves to Expand Social Security Coverage for Workers

Agartala, June 22, 2026: The Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD) has recorded an impressive 98 per cent achievement rate during the 2025–26 financial year, with the state government now focusing on expanding the reach of welfare schemes and development programmes across Tripura in the current fiscal year.

The announcement was made by Animal Resources Development Minister Sudhangshu Das while chairing the department’s first review meeting for the financial year 2026–27 at the State Secretariat. The meeting reviewed the implementation status of various state and centrally sponsored schemes, assessed achievements recorded during the previous financial year, and identified areas requiring further improvement. Senior officials, including Secretary Deepa D. Nair and Director Neeraj Kumar Chanchal, attended the review session.

Addressing the meeting, Minister Das emphasized that the department’s primary objective this year is to ensure that welfare benefits reach a larger number of beneficiaries, particularly those dependent on livestock and allied activities for their livelihoods. He stated that a comprehensive roadmap would be prepared based on the sanctioned budgets under different schemes to ensure timely and effective implementation of development initiatives.

“Our achievement rate stood at 98 per cent during the last financial year. Although some infrastructure-related projects faced delays due to tendering procedures and seasonal constraints, the department’s overall performance remained highly satisfactory. This year, our focus will be on expanding coverage and maximizing benefits for the people,” the minister said.

He instructed officials to carry out their responsibilities with greater efficiency and accountability, stressing the need for timely utilization of both state and central government funds. Das also assured that challenges related to construction and infrastructure development would be addressed to prevent delays in future projects.

During the meeting, officials highlighted the department’s commitment to strengthening livestock development programmes, supporting farmers, and enhancing welfare initiatives aimed at improving rural livelihoods. Special emphasis will be placed on increasing access to government services and ensuring the effective implementation of schemes at the grassroots level.

The review meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from the department to improve service delivery, strengthen rural economic opportunities, and ensure that the benefits of government programmes reach every eligible household across the state.
