Agartala, June 22, 2026: In a significant boost to Tripura’s administrative and livestock development infrastructure, Animal Resources Development, Fisheries and SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed vertical extension of the Directorate of the Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD) building in Agartala.
The inauguration marks an important milestone in the state government’s efforts to modernize departmental infrastructure and enhance the efficiency of service delivery for farmers, livestock owners, and stakeholders associated with the animal husbandry and fisheries sectors.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Das said the expansion of the directorate building would strengthen the department’s operational capacity and enable officials to provide better services to people across the state. He emphasized that the upgraded facility would play a key role in improving coordination, planning, and implementation of various welfare and development programmes undertaken by the department.
“This extension is a major step toward strengthening the institutional framework of the department. The improved infrastructure will help us serve the people more effectively and provide enhanced support to farmers, livestock rearers, and others engaged in animal husbandry and fisheries activities,” the minister said.
The inaugural programme was attended by Deepa D. Nair, Secretary of the Animal Resources Development, Fisheries and SC Welfare Department, N. K. Chanchal, Director of ARDD, along with senior officials, staff members, and other dignitaries associated with the department.
Officials informed that the newly added vertical extension will provide additional office space, upgraded facilities, and a more conducive working environment for employees. The enhanced infrastructure is expected to improve administrative efficiency and facilitate smoother implementation of government schemes and projects aimed at supporting rural livelihoods.
The Animal Resources Development Department plays a crucial role in promoting livestock development, dairy farming, poultry production, and fisheries across Tripura. These sectors contribute significantly to the state’s rural economy and provide livelihood opportunities to thousands of families.
