Agartala: May 17: Four student youth organizations—DYF, TYSF, SFI, and TSU—have raised their voices against the exorbitant air fares in the state. Today, they submitted a delegation to the Transport Department, expressing deep concern about the state’s rail and air services. Long-distance rail disruptions have prompted airlines to increase fares significantly, causing severe problems for state residents, particularly patients and students traveling outside the state.

Despite the abnormal fare hikes over the past month, the government has yet to take action. Rail passengers are also struggling to secure tickets. The organizations demand that the state transport department promptly reduce air fares, improve passenger services on local and long-distance trains, and engage with the Central Civil Aviation Department to address this issue.
