Agartala, March 13: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that no one will be spared in case of any attempt to creat an atmosphere of unrest in the state.
He also urged everyone to follow the life, teachings, and ideals of Lord Gautama Buddha and to spread them in society for the benefit of the people.
Dr. Saha said this after unveiling 28 Buddha statues and inaugurating the 78th Bankul Mahamuni Buddha Festival-2025 at Bankul Mahamuni Pagoda, Manu Bankul in South Tripura district.
“Our government will explore ways to immediately start the Dhamma Dipa University in Sabroom of South Tripura District. After a meeting today, I have asked the Secretary to look into the matter, and I hope the work will be completed soon. We have unveiled 28 Buddha statues, which I was not previously aware of. We must preserve our cultural and spiritual heritage. This is indeed a happy day for the people here,” said Dr. Saha.
He emphasized that the present state government will not tolerate any unlawful activities.
“Our government will not tolerate unlawful activities. The SP and DM are present here, and I want to direct them to take action against such activities. Those who are engaged in illegal practices, I want to warn them. Peace and tranquility prevail here, and no one will be spared if they try to spread unrest,” said Dr. Saha.
Dr. Saha further stated that the state government respects all religions and their cultures.
“If spiritual consciousness is enriched, society becomes more dedicated and stronger, leading to a decline in social degradation. If we follow the life, teachings, and ideals of Prabhu Gautama Buddha and spread them in our society, it will be beneficial for the people. He always preached that through the practice of non-violence and love for humanity, we can build a healthy society,” said the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the Mahamuni Buddha Pagoda in South Tripura is a sacred site, attracting people from across the country.
“This is an important spiritual tourist spot, and I have heard that around 500 to 700 people visit here regularly. Tourists from other states come here, which benefits local traders. We must work further to promote this place on the world map. I will discuss with the Ministry and the Tourism Department how we can develop it further,” he added.
