Agartala, July 2: The Dashami Ghat area’s idol immersion site is set to undergo a comprehensive revamp before the upcoming Durga Puja festival. Simultaneously, the renovation work at Raj Shamshan is currently in progress, with completion scheduled by August 15.
Mayor-cum-MLA Deepak Majumdar conducted an inspection today, visiting the Dashami Ghat immersion site, Raj Shamshan, the fish market adjoining road, and the under-construction lighthouse at Border Gol Chakkra. During his visit, he announced that the corporation would also take the initiative to renovate the road leading to the Battola fish market.
Accompanying officials included Commissioner of Corporation Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Corporator Tusharkanti Bhattacharya, Corporator Nivas Das, Corporator Jahnavi Das Dutt, and others.
Mayor Majumdar revealed that Rs 56 lakh has been allocated for the renovation work at Raj Shamshan. Additionally, the ongoing work at the Dashami Ghat area falls under the River Front Development project, which had an initial budget of Rs 99 crore. Some projects within this initiative have already been completed and inaugurated.
Commissioner Shailesh Yadav shared that the immersion site’s current work amounts to Rs 88 crore, with approximately Rs 70 crore worth of progress achieved. The state government will provide funding for the road work, estimated at Rs 1.5 crore for an RCC road. Furthermore, a health and yoga park will be established along the river bank, spanning approximately two kilometers from Dashami Ghat.
Progress on the construction of the lighthouse in the Border Gol Chakkra area is also proceeding rapidly.
