Agartala, July 12 – Newly inducted Tripura minister Kishore Barman has been assigned three significant portfolios in the Dr. Manik Saha-led cabinet. As per an official notification issued on Friday, Barman will now hold charge of the Higher Education, Panchayat, and General Administration (Political) departments.
The notification was released by the General Administration (Confidential and Cabinet) Department of the Tripura Government and signed by Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha. It marks a key development in the recent cabinet reshuffle aimed at improving governance and administrative efficiency in the state.
The order has been circulated to all concerned departments, including the offices of the Governor, Chief Minister, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, and other key administrative bodies. It has also been communicated to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and the Chief Secretaries of all States and Union Territories, signifying the formal acknowledgment of Barman’s cabinet role at the national level.
Kishore Barman, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA representing the Nalchar Assembly constituency, was sworn in as a Cabinet Minister on July 3. His elevation comes at a time when the Tripura government is focusing on strengthening its grassroots governance, higher education reforms, and administrative accountability.
By assigning Barman these crucial portfolios, the state government aims to inject new energy and leadership into departments that directly impact rural development, academic advancement, and political coordination.
Observers note that Barman’s role will be vital in implementing education policies, streamlining panchayat operations, and managing political administration affairs, particularly as Tripura prepares for upcoming local and legislative engagements.
His performance in these departments is likely to shape public perception and policy outcomes in the months ahead.
