Agartala: Mar 16: The Election Commission of India has officially declared the dates for the 18th Lok Sabha elections, marking the beginning of a significant democratic process. The elections will be conducted in seven phases across 543 constituencies nationwide.
Tripura, a crucial state, will participate in the elections through two phases.The polling process is set to commence on April 19 for West Tripura and April 26 for East Tripura . The results will be tallied and announced on June 4.
Additionally, Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar revealed that by-elections will be held simultaneously in several states, including Tripura, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Telangana, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan. These by-elections will coincide with the Lok Sabha polls.
Furthermore, the assembly elections in Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh will take place alongside the Lok Sabha elections. Notably, Tripura will witness its assembly elections in two phases, with the first phase scheduled for April 19 and the second phase on April 26. Simultaneously, by-elections will be held in seven Ramnagar assembly constituencies on April 19.
