Agartala: Oct 23: The Congress party in Tripura took to the streets of Agartala today, protesting against the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities. The protest march, which began at the state Congress headquarters, drew a significant number of Congress workers and supporters .
Tanmay Roy, president of the Sadar District Congress, expressed concerns that the prices of basic necessities have become unaffordable for the people. He criticized the state government’s inaction and accused the Chief Minister of prioritizing party membership drives over addressing inflation¹.
The protesters submitted a memorandum to the Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate, demanding immediate action to control prices and curb inflation and black marketing. They warned that if the government fails to address the issue, they will demand the Chief Minister’s resignation¹.
This isn’t the first time the Congress party in Tripura has protested against price hikes. They have been consistently vocal about the issue, with previous protests held in July and February this year.
