Agartala, February 23: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) staged a protest in front of the Labor Commissioner’s office on Friday, demanding a comprehensive set of 12-point demands aimed at improving the conditions of working women.
Led by CITU, a determined procession wound its way through the city streets, culminating in a gathering outside the Labor Commissioner’s office. The protesters expressed their grievances and initiated a dharna to underscore their demands.
Manik De, a prominent leader within CITU, highlighted the challenges faced by working women in the workplace. He emphasized that harassment of female employees remains a pressing issue. Additionally, he drew attention to the plight of Anganwadi workers and Asha workers, who have endured layoffs and prolonged salary deprivation.
The protest program aimed to shed light on several critical issues, including rising prices, job cuts, and violence against women. By assembling in front of the Labor Commissioner’s office, CITU sought to advocate for meaningful reforms and better working conditions for women across various sectors.
