Attack on Youth Congress Workers Triggers Protest in Tripura

Udaipur (Tripura), July 27: Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Sunday said the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) has been guided by the ideals of nationalism, dignity of labour and worker welfare since its inception in 1955, playing a significant role in safeguarding workers’ rights while promoting a strong work culture, social responsibility and national development.

Addressing the 72nd Foundation Day celebrations of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh at Rajrshi Kalakshetra in Udaipur, the minister said the organisation has remained committed to its founding principles for over seven decades. He noted that BMS was established on July 23, 1955, on the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, under the leadership of renowned labour leader Dattopant Thengadi.

Singha Roy said the organisation has consistently worked to protect the interests of workers while encouraging discipline, productivity and nation-building. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of workers have further strengthened these objectives.

Highlighting key initiatives of the Central government, the minister referred to social security measures for workers, the e-Shram portal for unorganised labourers, labour law reforms and the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. He said these programmes have expanded welfare coverage, enhanced labour rights and created greater opportunities for workers across different sectors.

The Finance Minister also congratulated the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh’s Gomati District Committee for its year-round social and humanitarian activities. He praised the organisation for conducting voluntary blood donation camps, tree plantation drives, extending assistance to sick and needy workers, and actively participating in various community welfare programmes.

Expressing confidence in the organisation’s future, Singha Roy said he hoped the BMS would continue serving society and protecting workers’ interests with the same dedication and commitment.

As part of the Foundation Day celebrations, the minister inaugurated a voluntary blood donation camp organised by the Gomati District unit of BMS.

The programme was attended by Gomati Zilla Sabhadhipati Debal Debroy, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairman Sheetal Chandra Majumdar, BJP Gomati district president Sabita Nag, senior BMS leader Gautam Das, BMS Gomati district president Digbijoy Bhawal and several other leaders and workers of the organisation.
