Agartala, July 27: Tripura on Sunday observed Kargil Vijay Diwas with solemnity and patriotic fervour at the Albert Ekka War Memorial Park in Lichubagan, Agartala, commemorating the supreme sacrifice of the Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War.
A special commemorative programme was organised to honour the brave soldiers whose courage and dedication safeguarded the nation’s sovereignty during the conflict. The ceremony was marked by dignity and deep respect as government officials, defence personnel and citizens gathered to pay homage to the martyrs.
Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu attended the programme as the chief guest and offered floral tributes at the war memorial. Remembering the heroic deeds of the Indian Armed Forces, the Governor paid tribute to the soldiers who displayed exceptional courage and unwavering commitment in defending the country’s territorial integrity during the Kargil conflict.
Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the unparalleled bravery, patriotism and selfless service of the Indian Army, stating that the sacrifices made by the Kargil martyrs continue to inspire generations of Indians. He said Kargil Vijay Diwas serves as a reminder of the courage and determination displayed by the nation’s armed forces in the face of adversity.
The programme witnessed the participation of senior Army officials, civil administration officers, ex-servicemen and distinguished citizens, who joined together in paying their respects to the fallen heroes. Floral tributes were offered at the memorial, while participants observed the occasion with solemn silence in honour of the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of the nation.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on July 26 to commemorate India’s victory in the Kargil War of 1999, when the Indian Armed Forces successfully recaptured strategic positions occupied by Pakistani intruders in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir after weeks of intense military operations.
The observance in Agartala reflected the state’s gratitude towards the brave soldiers and reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to remembering their sacrifices. The ceremony concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the ideals of patriotism, national unity and service, ensuring that the legacy of the Kargil heroes continues to inspire future generations.
