Agartala, July 9: Thirty women vegetable farmers from SK Para, Chichingcherra and North Mainama Village Committees participated in a day-long training programme on modern vegetable cultivation organised by Gramya Vikash Mancha (GVM) with support from LIC Housing Finance Ltd. (LIC HFL) under the Holistic Rural Initiative for Development Action and Yield (HRIDAY) Project.
The programme was held at the Office of the Superintendent of Horticulture & Soil Conservation in Manu. Superintendent of Horticulture & Soil Conservation Ar. Ranabir Tripura conducted technical sessions on scientific cultivation of summer and winter vegetables, high-yielding crop varieties, soil and nutrient management, and integrated pest and disease control.
An interactive session enabled participants to discuss field-level challenges and receive practical solutions to improve crop productivity and reduce cultivation risks.
Organisers said the initiative aims to strengthen the technical skills of women farmers, promote sustainable farming practices and enhance household incomes. They expressed confidence that such capacity-building programmes will encourage the adoption of scientific agricultural techniques, improve vegetable production and contribute to rural livelihoods, food security and the local economy.
