Agartala, Sep 14 — With Durga Puja around the corner, West Agartala Police on Sunday convened a coordination meeting at the Agartala TB Prevention Hall to chalk out security measures and strengthen collaboration with local stakeholders. The initiative aims to ensure peaceful and orderly festivities across the city.
The meeting brought together representatives of various clubs, social organizations, and Puja committees falling under the jurisdiction of West Agartala Police Station. Key officials in attendance included Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Debaprasad Roy, and other senior personnel.
Addressing the gathering, SDPO Debaprasad Roy highlighted the significance of shared responsibility in maintaining law and order during the festive season.
“Durga Puja is not just a celebration of devotion but a festival of unity and community spirit. We call upon all Puja organizers and volunteers to work hand in hand with the police, follow safety guidelines, and remain alert. Our collective goal is to ensure that everyone can celebrate with joy, free from fear or disruption,” Roy said.
Discussions during the meeting focused on critical aspects of safety management, including crowd control strategies, traffic regulation, and emergency response mechanisms. The police also emphasized the need for surveillance systems at major Puja venues to deter untoward incidents.
Organizers were urged to keep close communication with law enforcement authorities and promptly report any suspicious activities. Police officials assured that adequate security arrangements, including deployment of personnel and quick-response teams, will be in place throughout the festival.
The meeting concluded with a joint pledge from police and community representatives to work together for smooth, secure, and joyous Durga Puja celebrations in Agartala.
