Agartala July 28: Weekend Tourist Hub is being launched in front of the main gate of Ujjayanta Palace by Tourism Department and Agartala Pur Nigam. This weekend tourist hub will be open on Saturday and Sunday of the week. All types of vehicular movement will be prohibited from Sherowali Sweet Corner to Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, Jackson Gate traffic point for two days. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said this at a press conference at the Secretariat on Friday. He said, the Weekend Tourist Hub will have mono cultural programs, well-equipped mobile food stalls and entertainment for tourists on Saturdays and Sundays of every week. It has also been decided by the Tourism Department to keep Ujjayanta Palace and State Museum open 365 days and light and sound show in the evening.
Paddle boats on the Radha Sagar will be arranged for the entertainment of the tourists. Photo counters will be opened in the garden area of the State Museum to facilitate the taking of photographs by the tourists in traditional dress and ornaments. The minister also said that new things will be introduced to attract tourists in the coming days.
Apart from this, the minister also said that currently evaluation work of Rs 586.61 million tenders is going on from ADV Fund for various development works of Amar Sagar and Phatik Sagar in Chitramura area and Amarpur city. Preparation of DPR for infrastructural development in Fourteenth Devata Mandir, Kamalasagar Kali Mandir and Niramhal is in progress. In the Swadesh Darshan project, the Government of India has approved the construction of state-of-the-art infrastructure in two Swadesh Darshan projects at Agartala and Unakoti destinations. 140 crores have been earmarked as project cost for these two areas. Mayor Deepak Majumder of Agartala Municipal Corporation and Director of Tourism Department were present at the press conference. Later, the Minister inspected the working of the Weekend Tourist Hub along with the Mayor.
