At a memorial meeting organized on the martyrdom day of Ajit Ray Chowdhury, CPM state secretary and Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury criticized the BJP. The event, which included a blood donation camp, was held at the CPI(M) Yogendranagar area office under the initiative of the DYFI Dukli divisional committee. Key attendees included CPI(M) state secretary and Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chowdhury, party’s Dukli subdivisional secretary Narayan Dev, state committee member Samar Chakraborty, DYFI state secretary Nabarun Dev, Dukli divisional committee president Arindam Biswas, and secretary Shubhankar Majumdar.

During the event, Mr. Chowdhury commemorated Dr. Ajit Ray Chowdhury, who was killed on August 30, 1989, and praised his sacrifice to protect the panchayat.

Mr. Chowdhury also criticized the BJP government, alleging that no elections have been conducted fairly since they came to power in Tripura. He claimed that the BJP captured 70% of the panchayat seats by force and did not conduct fair elections for the remaining 30%. He further alleged that the ruling party’s candidates won the panchayat elections through vote rigging, leading to public unrest and protests, including road blockades.

The situation remains tense as people continue to express their dissatisfaction with the declared candidates for the posts of chief and deputy chief, citing corruption concerns.
