Agartala, Oct 13 : The Tripura Cabinet has unanimously adopted a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years as head of government and approved the establishment of eight Seva Jyoti Chowks across the state, Chief Minister Manik Saha said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference, Saha said the resolution expressed gratitude and appreciation for Modi’s contributions to nation-building, governance, national security, public welfare and India’s growing global stature.
Modi completed 25 years as head of government on October 7, having assumed office as Gujarat chief minister in 2001 before becoming prime minister in 2014.
Saha said the state government remained committed to the vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and a ‘Viksit Tripura’, aligned with the national goal of making India a developed nation by 2047.
Highlighting key decisions taken during Modi’s tenure, the chief minister cited the abrogation of Article 370, implementation of One Rank One Pension, creation of the post of Chief of Defence Staff, labour law reforms and the replacement of colonial-era criminal laws.
He also referred to the 2016 surgical strikes, the 2019 Balakot air strikes and Operation Sindoor in May 2025, besides India’s presidency of the G20 Summit in 2023 and its engagement with international groupings, including BRICS.
Saha said Tripura had benefited from several central development initiatives, particularly in connectivity, railway infrastructure and urban amenities.
Work on the Agartala City West Bypass has commenced, while plans are underway to upgrade the Agartala-Churaibari and Agartala-Udaipur corridors to four lanes, he said.
Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, redevelopment of four railway stations — Agartala, Dharmanagar, Kumarghat and Udaipur — is being undertaken with an allocation of Rs 146 crore. The Udaipur-Agartala-Sabroom railway corridor has also been fully electrified, he added.
The chief minister said a study for doubling the 263-km Chandranathpur-Sabroom railway line had been completed. Projects under the Agartala Smart City Mission and the establishment of an Ayurvedic Medical College were among the other initiatives highlighted.
The Cabinet also approved the permanent installation of Seva Jyoti Chowks at eight locations, including Agartala, Dharmanagar, Kailashahar, Ambassa, Khowai, Bishramganj, Udaipur and Belonia.
Saha said the landmarks would promote public service, social responsibility and community participation through cleanliness drives, voluntary work, tree plantation and awareness campaigns to ensure welfare schemes reach the last person in society.
