Agartala, April 7: Tripura Chief Minister Professor (Dr) Manik Saha on Monday launched a sharp attack on Tipra Motha, warning that no political party can sustain power through intimidation, violence, or hooliganism. Addressing a public gathering at Duski in Teliamura, Saha campaigned in support of BJP candidates Billo Jamatia from Maharani Pur–Teliamura constituency and Rajesh Debbarma from Mandai–Pulinpur constituency.

In his address, the Chief Minister accused Tipra Motha of adopting a dual stance—speaking about peace publicly while allegedly engaging in acts of political intimidation and terror at the grassroots level. He asserted that such behavior would not be tolerated by the people of the state under any circumstances.

Saha further alleged that attempts were made by Tipra Motha supporters to disrupt the environment even before his scheduled programme. He claimed that common people were stopped from attending the rally, intimidated, and that incidents of firing were also reported in the area. “Motha has lost its mind,” he said, accusing the party of deliberately trying to create unrest and destabilize the peaceful atmosphere in Tripura.

Highlighting the improved law and order situation, the Chief Minister credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for restoring lasting peace in Tripura and across the North Eastern region after years of instability. He emphasized that the current government remains committed to maintaining peace and development, and any attempt to disturb it would be dealt with firmly.

Expressing strong confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects, Saha said that fear tactics would ultimately backfire. “Threatening people will not yield any benefit. Once the public begins to respond, those indulging in such acts will not even get a chance to escape,” he warned.

The rally witnessed the presence of several key BJP leaders, including ST Morcha National President Sameer Oraon, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, Assembly Chief Whip Kalyani Roy, MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, and other senior party functionaries.
