Agartala, March 12: The Government of Tripura on Thursday formally launched the Tripura Women Entrepreneurship Policy 2025–2030, a major initiative aimed at strengthening women’s economic participation and promoting women-led enterprises across the state. The policy was unveiled at a state-level programme held at Pragna Bhavan by Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma.

The policy seeks to create a supportive ecosystem for women entrepreneurs, especially those involved in small, cottage, and micro industries. It aims to link women-led businesses with modern technology, improved market access, and institutional support to help them scale up their ventures.

Under the policy, the state government has introduced several financial incentives. These include capital investment subsidies ranging from 30 to 40 percent under the Tripura Industrial Promotion Incentive Scheme (TIPIS), project cost subsidies of up to 35 percent under the Swabalamban scheme, and special interest concessions on working capital loans.

Additional support measures include reimbursement of up to Rs 1 lakh for business license and registration fees, assistance for participation in trade fairs and exhibitions, and programmes focused on digital literacy, mentoring, and e-commerce marketing for women entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the event, Minister Chakma described the policy as a milestone for the state’s economic growth and women’s empowerment. She said the initiative would create new opportunities for women across both rural and urban areas.

“This policy reflects a progressive vision for creating greater opportunities and a strong support system for women entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into successful ventures. It will usher in a new era of women-led development in Tripura,” she said.

The minister also highlighted that the government has ensured 33 percent reservation benefits in various sectors to strengthen women’s participation. Since 2018, the number of self-help groups has expanded significantly, with more than five lakh women members and over 1.08 lakh ‘Lakhpati Didis’ emerging as successful entrepreneurs.

Senior officials, banking representatives, and women entrepreneurs attended the programme, where several achievers were also felicitated for their contributions to entrepreneurship and economic development.
