A special interrogation team has been constituted in Sepahijala district to question an accused arrested in connection with recent clashes between two rival groups allegedly involved in narcotic trafficking, police sources said.

The incident, which reportedly involved members of two rackets chasing each other with weapons, had triggered tension in the area. Police managed to arrest one individual shortly after the clash, while several others seen fleeing the scene are currently absconding. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the remaining accused.

According to an official order, the interrogation team has been formed under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police (Sepahijala) Rajib Sutradhar. The team has been tasked with interrogating the arrested individual in connection with Bishalgarh PS Case No. 20261110016, which has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The team comprises key officers from different police stations in the district. Members include Vikash Senthiya, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Bishalgarh; Subimal Barman, Officer-in-Charge of Kalamchoura police station; Bijoy Das, Officer-in-Charge of Bishalgarh police station; Tapash Das, Officer-in-Charge of Sonamura police station; Sub-Inspector Supratim Dey of Bishalgarh police station, who is also serving as the Investigating Officer (IO) of the case; and Sub-Inspector Subhajit Deb of Madhupur police station.

As per the order, the interrogation team will function under the overall leadership of the Additional SP and extend necessary assistance to the Investigating Officer in carrying forward the probe. The formation of the team is aimed at ensuring a coordinated and thorough investigation into the alleged narcotics-related violence and uncovering the broader network behind the rival groups.

The head of the team has been directed to submit daily progress reports to the competent authority, outlining developments in the interrogation and investigation process. This measure is intended to ensure close monitoring of the case and maintain accountability at every stage.

Additionally, the Investigating Officer has been instructed to prepare a comprehensive interrogation report in consultation with the team members. The report is expected to detail findings from questioning, potential leads, and any actionable intelligence gathered during the process.

Police officials indicated that further action, including additional arrests, may follow based on the outcome of the interrogation and ongoing investigation.
