The seminar was organised with support from the Central Government’s PM-USHA Scheme and brought together academicians, administrators, and students to discuss key issues related to women’s welfare, mental health, and empowerment.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that the empowerment of women is fundamental to the progress of the nation. Referring to initiatives taken by the Centre under the leadership of Narendra Modi, he highlighted several flagship programmes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. According to him, these initiatives have significantly contributed to improving education, healthcare, and financial inclusion for women across India.

“For India’s progress, women must progress. Educating girl children and ensuring their participation in leadership and development processes is essential,” the Governor said.

He further stressed the need for focused planning in sectors such as education, healthcare, and economic development to ensure holistic growth and empowerment of women. The Governor also highlighted the role of institutions like the National Commission for Women and the Tripura State Commission for Women in protecting women’s rights and promoting gender equality.

The seminar witnessed participation from several dignitaries, including Bibhas Deb, Higher Education Director Animesh Debbarma, MBB College Principal Arjun Gope, and student representatives Sagari Jamatia and Tanmay Debnath. The welcome address was delivered by organising committee secretary Dr. Deepa Ghosh.

On the occasion, the Governor also distributed prizes and mementos to winners of a poster competition organised as part of the seminar.
