Agartala: Feb 18: Tripura is all set to host its first-ever Tripura Literature Festival, a grand celebration of literature, arts, and intellectual discourse. The festival will be inaugurated on February 21st, International Mother Language Day, at the Rabindra Centenary Building in Agartala. The event, organized by Udan in collaboration with several institutions, will run through February 23rd.
Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha will inaugurate the festival, with Honorable Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Verma, also in attendance. The three-day event will bring together poets, writers, artists, scientists, and intellectuals from across India and abroad. Among the distinguished guests are Booker Prize winner Geetanjali Shree, Magsaysay Award winner Dr. Ravi Kannan, India’s first astronaut scientist Rakesh Sharma, and renowned poet Joy Goswami. Other notable participants include film director and actor Anjan Dutt, artist Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta, and musician Raju Baul.
The festival will feature various sessions, including discussions linking literature and science, poetry recitations, performances, and book presentations. On February 22nd, Rakesh Sharma will discuss the universe’s wonders, while Geetanjali Shree and Bikach Chowdhury will captivate the audience with their literary insights. February 23rd will see poet Joy Goswami and Raju Baul delivering captivating performances.
A vibrant exhibition of sculptures, pottery, and books will add to the festival’s charm, alongside a variety of food stalls. The festival’s success is attributed to the generous support of institutions such as Techno India University Tripura, ONGC, State Bank of India, and many others. Udan, the organizing body, expresses gratitude to all contributors, making the Tripura Literature Festival a landmark event in the state’s cultural history.
