Agartala, March 22: The Tripura Pradesh Congress has intensified its preparations for the upcoming Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections, holding a crucial organizational meeting at Congress Bhavan in Agartala on Sunday. The meeting brought together party president Ashish Kumar Saha, MLAs, and senior leaders to strategize for the April 12, 2026 polls.

Addressing reporters after the बैठक, Saha confirmed that the Congress will field candidates in all 28 seats of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). He also announced that the party has entered into alliances with two smaller regional parties that hold influence in select tribal pockets, aiming to strengthen its foothold in the hill areas.

The discussions primarily focused on finalizing candidates across all constituencies. According to Saha, the official list of candidates is expected to be announced soon after completing internal approval processes within the Pradesh Congress Committee.

Highlighting the importance of alliances, Saha said the collaboration with regional outfits is part of a broader strategy to consolidate anti-BJP and anti-TIPRA Motha votes. He expressed confidence that this united approach would help Congress make significant inroads in tribal regions where it has lost ground in recent years.

The ADC elections will see 28 members being elected, of which 25 seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes, making the contest crucial for tribal political representation. While the BJP and TIPRA Motha continue to dominate the political landscape in the hills, Congress is banking on renewed grassroots engagement and strategic partnerships to regain relevance.

“Congress treats every election with seriousness. We will expose the failures of the government and present a clear vision for inclusive development,” Saha stated. He added that the introduction of fresh faces, along with the support of alliance partners, would help reconnect with tribal voters.

The party plans to focus its campaign on development, tribal welfare, and grassroots empowerment, positioning itself as a viable alternative to the ruling BJP and TIPRA Motha in the ADC elections.
