AGARTALA, March 3: Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Tuesday alleged that salaries of employees of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) had not been credited ahead of Holi, terming the delay “moral corruption” and accusing the state government of indulging in “cheap politics.”

In a social media livestream around 4 pm, the Tipra Motha supremo said that as of March 3, staff members of the TTAADC — including those serving on deputation from the state government — had not received their salaries in their bank accounts. He expressed concern that the delay had come at a time when the state is preparing to celebrate Holi.

“Today is March 3, and I am speaking at around 4 pm. The salaries have not been credited to the bank accounts of TTAADC staff. Even employees on deputation from the state government have not received their dues. Tomorrow the entire state will celebrate Holi, and at this point the salaries have not been released,” he said.

Debbarman questioned the delay in releasing funds meant for salaries and allowances and alleged that the file related to disbursal was pending with Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma. “This is moral corruption. I never expected such cheap politics. The file is lying in the minister’s office,” he alleged.

Referring to his earlier political contests with the BJP during the tenure of former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Debbarman claimed such steps were not taken then. He also said he hoped Chief Minister Manik Saha was unaware of the developments and added that political differences should not cause hardship to the public.
