Agartala: May 21: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday announced that the present BJP-led government in Tripura has provided a total of 19,262 jobs so far, including appointments under the die-in-harness scheme. He said the government is actively working to fill existing vacancies while also creating new posts across departments.
Speaking at a job offer distribution ceremony and blood donation camp held at Prajna Bhavan, Agartala, the Chief Minister said recruitment is underway for various posts under the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department. These include 12 Sub-Inspectors, 3 Fumigation Assistants, 6 Store Keepers, and 35 Store Guards.
During the event, 15 newly appointed Food Inspectors were handed their offer letters. Congratulating them, Dr. Saha extended his best wishes for their service life and encouraged them to serve the people with dedication.
Dr. Saha also took a swipe at previous governments, alleging that job offers were once distributed from party offices. “Our government ensures transparency and provides jobs purely on merit,” he said.
He further highlighted the state’s progress in other welfare initiatives. A process is underway to issue smart ration cards to the public. Under the Ujjwala Yojana, Tripura has provided 3,68,800 free LPG connections so far. Additionally, the state government has procured 2.25 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from farmers at Minimum Support Price, spending ₹446 crore.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the benefits being extended under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.
Minister for Transport, Food, and Tourism Sushanta Chowdhury echoed the CM’s sentiments, asserting that transparency is the top priority in recruitment. He criticized past governments for promoting political favoritism at the cost of merit.
The event was also attended by Agartala Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, senior officials, and other dignitaries.
