Agartala, Aug 11: Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker, who recently underwent brain-related surgery at a private hospital in the state, has been shifted outside Tripura for advanced medical treatment, officials said on Monday.
The Speaker was admitted to ILS Hospital in Agartala after suffering a sudden health complication that required immediate brain surgery. Hospital sources confirmed that he had been under close observation following the procedure.
On Monday, doctors recommended that the patient be moved to a specialised medical facility outside the state for advanced treatment and post-operative care. Acting on this advice, arrangements were made to transfer him to a reputed hospital with the necessary expertise and infrastructure.
Before the transfer, the Speaker’s daughter and son addressed the media, confirming that the decision was taken entirely on the recommendation of the treating doctors. “Our father’s condition requires specialised care that is available outside the state. We are following the medical team’s guidance and hope for his speedy recovery,” they said.
The Speaker’s family expressed gratitude to the medical staff at ILS Hospital for their prompt intervention and care over the past few days. They also thanked well-wishers and political colleagues for their prayers and messages of support.
Authorities have not disclosed the exact destination hospital for security and privacy reasons. However, sources indicated that it is a leading neurosurgical centre known for handling complex brain surgeries.
The Speaker’s health condition has drawn concern from political leaders across party lines, many of whom have conveyed their best wishes. Updates on his recovery are expected once he is settled at the new facility and further assessments are made.
