Amarpur, June 4: Supporters and workers of the Tipra Motha Party staged a protest on Wednesday in Bhomrachhara ADC Village under Amarpur subdivision after the local Village Committee office allegedly remained non-functional for two consecutive days, causing inconvenience to residents seeking essential government services.

The protest began in the morning when party workers and local residents gathered in front of the Village Committee office to express their dissatisfaction over the prolonged closure. As part of the demonstration, the protesters locked the main gate of the office and demanded immediate intervention from the authorities to restore normal functioning of the institution.

According to the protesters, the absence of officials from the office has severely affected the delivery of various public services. They alleged that residents visiting the office for official work were compelled to return without assistance after finding the premises closed on successive days.

Among the services reportedly affected were the issuance of Record of Rights (RoR) documents, land mutation and transfer-related paperwork, and other administrative services that are routinely handled by the Village Committee office. The disruption, they said, has particularly impacted villagers who had travelled from distant areas to complete urgent official procedures.

Leaders of the Tipra Motha Party alleged that the issue had been brought to the notice of the concerned authorities on multiple occasions. However, they claimed that no effective steps had been taken to address the problem or ensure regular attendance of officials at the office.

“The villagers are suffering because essential services are not being provided. People are unable to obtain important documents and complete official formalities. We have repeatedly informed the authorities, but the situation remains unchanged,” a party leader said during the protest.

The protesters maintained that the demonstration was organised solely in the interest of the local population and demanded that the Village Committee office remain operational on all working days. They also called for accountability and proper monitoring to prevent similar disruptions in the future.

Although the protest remained peaceful, it created tension in the area for some time. Local administration officials later assured the protesters that the matter would be examined and appropriate action would be taken if necessary.

There was no immediate response from the Village Committee authorities regarding the allegations raised by the protesters.
