Agartala, July 30: The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) on Thursday officially concluded the 2026 academic session with the declaration of the Year-Saving (Bachhar Bachao) examination results, bringing the curtain down on this year’s Madhyamik (Secondary) and Higher Secondary (Class 12) examination cycle.

Announcing the results at a press conference, TBSE President Dr. Dhananjay Gan Choudhury said the declaration of the Year-Saving examination results marks the formal completion of the 2026 board examinations. He pointed out that while the main examination results were announced on May 24 this year, compared to April 30 in 2023, the Year-Saving results were published on July 30, a few days later than last year’s July 24 announcement.

The Year-Saving examinations helped improve the overall pass percentages in both Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations. In Madhyamik, the pass rate increased from 84.18 per cent to 84.93 per cent. Of the 758 students who appeared for the Year-Saving examination, 239 cleared it, taking the total number of successful candidates to 27,333 out of 32,184 students.

TBSE Secretary Dr. Jaydeep Chakraborty said 292 schools achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in the Madhyamik examinations, reflecting consistent academic performance across the state.

In the Higher Secondary examination, 1,570 students appeared for the Year-Saving test, of whom 350 qualified. As a result, the overall pass percentage rose from 79.33 per cent to 80.65 per cent. A total of 21,374 students successfully passed out of 26,504 candidates. The board also reported that 66 Higher Secondary schools registered a perfect pass rate, highlighting academic excellence despite the overall success rate remaining slightly lower than last year’s.

District-wise results showed noticeable variations in performance. Gomati district recorded the highest Madhyamik pass percentage at 89.07 per cent, followed by Sepahijala with 88.58 per cent, while Dhalai remained at the bottom with 72.65 per cent. In Higher Secondary, Sepahijala topped the state with an 85.54 per cent pass rate, followed by South Tripura (84.51 per cent) and North Tripura (82.54 per cent). Dhalai again recorded the lowest performance at 69.05 per cent.

Board officials said the Year-Saving examination continues to provide students with a valuable second opportunity to complete their academic year, reducing dropout rates and helping more candidates qualify. While the final pass percentages reflect modest improvements, the district-wise disparities indicate the need for focused interventions to improve educational outcomes in weaker-performing regions.
