Agartala, August 17: In a major push to strengthen Tripura’s startup and innovation ecosystem, Finance and IT Minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Monday inaugurated the T-RISE (Tripura Registry & Integration for Startup Ecosystem) Portal at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala during a workshop titled “Building a Unicorn in Tripura.”

Addressing government officials, industry leaders, investors and startup founders, Singha Roy said the state aims to build an innovation-driven economy where young entrepreneurs can turn ideas into successful businesses.

He said the government is creating an enabling ecosystem through progressive policies, digital infrastructure and strategic collaborations to attract investment, encourage innovation and generate quality employment.

Under the sector-agnostic Tripura Startup Policy, the state has received more than 185 applications, approved 140 registrations and formally recognised 70 startups. More than Rs 2.72 crore in financial assistance has been disbursed through the Tri-Seed Fund, Proof of Concept grants and operational support.

The newly launched T-RISE portal will function as a single-window digital platform connecting startups with mentors, investors, corporates, incubators and government departments. The platform has already brought together more than 20 mentors, over 10 investors and 10-plus corporates to provide support in areas including technology, finance, marketing, legal services and business strategy.

As part of the initiative, Memorandums of Understanding were exchanged with HDFC Bank, Amazon Seller Services and Zoho Corporation. The collaborations are aimed at providing startups access to financial products, e-commerce opportunities, cloud technologies and mentorship programmes.

Tripura’s incubation centre, T-NEST at Hapania, has also been linked with Hyderabad-based T-Hub, giving entrepreneurs access to expertise and accelerator programmes.

Singha Roy said the state’s innovation push would extend beyond technology to tourism, agriculture and heritage conservation to promote inclusive economic growth.

The workshop also featured mentoring sessions by T-Hub experts and an interaction with Tejaswi Bhagavatula, Vice President of Skyroot Aerospace. Skyroot’s achievements in space technology were highlighted to encourage aspiring entrepreneurs.

Singha Roy said the government, under Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, is committed to making Tripura’s startup ecosystem competitive, future-ready and employment-generating, while positioning the state as an emerging startup destination in eastern India.
