Agartala, July 2: Left youth organizations in Tripura have initiated a two-week statewide agitation today, addressing the pressing issues of drug menace and unemployment. The announcement was made by Nabarun Deb, the state secretary of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), during a press conference.

The planned agitation includes a series of events such as meetings, gatherings, processions, and deputations across the state. Participants aim to raise awareness about the drug problem and demand employment opportunities. The program commenced today in Kailashahar.

In addition to addressing the drug issue, Deb criticized the state’s governance, accusing the ruling government of undermining the education system. He emphasized the need for urgent measures to improve electricity, healthcare, and education infrastructure, which currently faces challenges throughout the state. The agitation also calls for action against drug traffickers and an end to private recruitment in government departments.

Furthermore, Deb highlighted the delayed recruitment process for various positions, including the GRAS exam conducted in 2019. The demand from the agitating youth organizations is for the government to expedite the recruitment process promptly. STGT (Secondary Trained Graduate Teacher) and Group-D positions are also affected by the slow recruitment procedures.
