Agartala: Feb 27: On February 22nd, a robbery took place in Gobindapur under Churaibari police station, where a group of robbers robbed a family of valuables at gunpoint. The police have arrested two robbers after investigating the incident. They were arrested late on Wednesday night.
According to the incident report, at around 3:15 am, a group of robbers disguised as paramilitary forces entered the house of Sadhan Dev, a resident of ward number 3 of Gobindapur gram panchayat. They were armed with two guns, a scythe and a sabre, and their faces were covered with black cloth.
The group of seven to eight robbers held guns at the heads of Sadhan Dev and his son Sagar Dev, robbed them of 73,000 taka in cash, a lot of gold jewelry, an Android mobile phone and other valuables and fled. On receiving the news of the incident, Churaibari police station, Dharmanagar Subdistrict Police Officer B. Zarin Puiya, Additional Superintendent of Police Jeremiah Darlong, Superintendent of Police IPS Avinash Rai and Bagbasa Assembly MLA Jadavlal Nath rushed to the spot. Fingerprint experts were also called. Finally, four days after the robbery, the police were able to arrest the two dacoits involved in the case. However, the gun and other weapons used in the robbery, as well as the lost money and gold ornaments, have not yet been recovered. The investigating officer in this case is Sub-Inspector Pritimoy Chakma.
Churaibari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khokon Saha, although he did not give any reaction in front of the camera for the sake of investigation, verbally said that the mobile location of the two arrested was in the Gobindpur area on the night of the robbery. They were arrested around 2 am on Wednesday. The names of the arrested are Kabil Hossain and Jamir Uddin. Their house is in ward number six of Dakshin Kadamtala Gram Panchayat under Kadamtala Police Station. He further said that when he got the hint of a police raid, he tried to escape through the window of the house, but the police chased him and caught him. The two arrested are currently being interrogated in the custody of Churaibari Police Station. They will be produced before the Dharmanagar District and Sessions Court on Friday for police remand, the officer-in-charge said.
