The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party might have expanded its foothold in the minority Muslim dominated areas with the by-election victory in Boxanagar but the party should not be complacent with their performance as clouds of dissidence have started to hovering over the minority arm of the saffron camp.
An old audio clip that went viral recently has added fuel to fire brewing within the party rank and file. In the audio clip, apparently, a voice recording of the telephonic conversation between two persons, BJP leader Jasimuddin, who was recently appointed as the Chairman of Tripura Minority Welfare Commission, could be heard expressing his disappointment for not being denied a party ticket.
The sum and substance of the conversation was that the BJP has chosen turncoats for fielding candidates over the loyal party activists had been serving the party for a long period of time. He had mentioned that the party state leadership had received numerous complaints against Tofajjal Hossain. Despite all that he was nominated over and over again. Even as he faced defeat in the first attempt, Hossain was repeated as a candidate in the by-polls.
The BJP leader was also seemed livid of the fact that Moboswar Ali, a CPIM turncoat was given ticket two days after he switched sides from the CPIM party. “If the loyal soldiers of the party are not eligible to get a ticket then it makes no sense to sweat for the party. We should also refrain from tackling any crisis within the party as our voices fall on deaf ears of the party state leadership”, Jasimuddin told the person whom he was speaking with. The receiver of the message was also responding positively to his words.
A lot of attempts were made to reach out to the BJP leader but all attempts went in vain. Sources in the BJP Minority Morcha said, Tafajjal’s victory in the by-elections took him closer to the party leadership which has eventually left the other senior leaders who used to control the organizational activities sulking.
