Agartala: Feb 24: On Monday, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) organized a significant program focused on financial literacy and women’s empowerment at Hotel Polo Towers in the capital. The event was graced by the presence of Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, along with other distinguished guests.

Governor Nallu officially inaugurated the program and, in his address, highlighted the importance of enhancing financial literacy among women. He stressed that financial education is key to empowering women, enabling them to make informed decisions and better manage their finances.

The Governor also took a moment to reflect on how the banking system has evolved over time. He pointed out that in the past, banks often required guarantees before approving loans. However, the process has become much simpler today, with easier access to credit through various government schemes. He particularly noted the positive impact of self-help groups (SHGs) in facilitating loans for women, helping them start and sustain businesses, thereby fostering financial independence and economic empowerment.

The program underscored the RBI’s commitment to promoting financial literacy and ensuring that women have the tools and resources to become financially independent. Through such initiatives, the RBI aims to contribute to the broader goal of achieving gender equality and empowering women in all spheres of life. The event also marked a significant step in raising awareness about the various financial resources and government schemes available to women, helping them navigate the banking system more effectively.
