Agartala: March 15: In a significant operation, the Khowai police station achieved a major milestone in its efforts to create a drug-free Tripura. Acting on confidential information, law enforcement officials intercepted a 12-wheeler truck and confiscated approximately 70 kg of dry cannabis.
The operation unfolded after the Khowai police received intelligence that cannabis was being smuggled through the Khowai Belfang area. Swiftly acting on this tip-off, officers conducted a targeted raid. Hidden within the wheels of the truck, they discovered the substantial quantity of cannabis. Both the driver and co-driver, who hailed from outside the state, were promptly apprehended.
Investigations indicate that the illicit cargo was destined for another state, with Agartala serving as the starting point. The police have registered a case under specific legal provisions and are diligently pursuing further leads.
