Agartala, July 28: Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Tuesday announced the formation of a reforms committee for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), asserting that no illegal appointments would be allowed in the autonomous body and promising a transparent and accountable recruitment system.

Addressing party supporters through a social media livestream after a prolonged absence due to health issues affecting both himself and his mother, Debbarma said the reforms committee would introduce a new framework aimed at strengthening governance and restoring public confidence in the TTAADC administration.

He made it clear that the council would adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards irregularities in appointments.

“Not a single illegal job will be given in the TTAADC,” Debbarma said, stressing that every recruitment process would be conducted fairly and transparently. He added that merit and accountability would be the guiding principles of future appointments.

The Tipra Motha leader also revealed that the newly constituted reforms committee would not be confined to administrative changes alone. It would actively engage young entrepreneurs, artists, writers, intellectuals and youth leaders in shaping a new political culture within the tribal autonomous council.

According to Debbarma, the objective is to make governance more participatory by involving people from different walks of life in policy discussions and developmental initiatives. He said the committee would work towards building a transparent, efficient and people-centric administration that reflects the aspirations of the indigenous communities.

Referring to allegations of irregularities in recent recruitment processes, Debbarma said he had directed the TTAADC administration to cancel the entire recruitment examination to ensure fairness. He reiterated that transparency and accountability would remain his top priorities and that any recruitment process found to be compromised would not be allowed to continue.

On the political front, Debbarma urged the Central government to resume discussions on the proposed Tiprasa Accord, noting that nearly four months had passed since the TTAADC elections. He expressed hope that dialogue on the long-pending demands of the indigenous people would resume at the earliest and lead to a constructive outcome.

Debbarma’s announcement is being seen as an effort to strengthen institutional reforms within the TTAADC while addressing concerns over recruitment practices and governance. The proposed reforms committee is expected to recommend measures to improve transparency, enhance public participation, and ensure greater accountability in the functioning of the autonomous district council.
