According to an official notification issued by the ECI on Thursday, the qualifying date for the revision process in Tripura has been fixed as January 1, 2026. The large-scale electoral roll revision exercise is aimed at updating voter lists and ensuring greater accuracy and transparency in the electoral process.

As per the schedule, preparatory activities including training of officials and printing of necessary materials will take place between September 5 and September 14. The house-to-house verification process by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will begin on September 15 and continue till October 14.

The Election Commission said rationalization of polling stations will be carried out on October 14, while the draft electoral rolls will be published on October 21. Following publication of the draft rolls, the process for filing claims and objections will commence on the same day.

The period for submission and disposal of claims and objections will continue from October 21 to December 19. After completion of all procedures, the final electoral rolls for Tripura will be published on December 23 this year.

According to ECI data, Tripura currently has 3,356 Booth Level Officers (BLOs), 6,757 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties, and approximately 28.97 lakh electors as of May 12, 2026.

The Election Commission stated that the Phase-III schedule has been prepared keeping in mind the ongoing Census house-listing exercise, as both activities involve common field-level administrative machinery.

With the completion of Phase-III, the SIR exercise will cover almost the entire country except Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, where schedules will be announced later considering weather conditions and completion of Census-related activities.

The ECI has appealed to all political parties to actively participate in the revision process by appointing BLAs at every polling booth to ensure transparency, accuracy and wider public participation during the electoral roll revision exercise.
