Responding to queries from legislators Sudip Roy Barman and Nirmal Biswas in the Assembly, the minister revealed that 94,460 MSME units have been registered across the state over the past three years. The yearly figures show a steady upward trend, with 28,931 units set up in 2023, 28,797 in 2024, and a significant jump to 36,732 in 2025. As of January 31, 2026, around 43 registered industrial establishments have generated employment for approximately 2,825 people.

Highlighting developments in the tea sector, Chakma informed the House that the old office building at PN Complex in Gurkhabasti, Agartala has been renovated to house the upcoming Agartala Tea Auction Centre. Formalities, including licensing and registration with the Tea Board of India, are nearing completion, and operations are expected to commence soon. The centre is expected to provide a major boost to Tripura’s tea industry by improving market access and price discovery.

On energy infrastructure, the minister noted that in the past three financial years, Tripura Natural Gas Company Limited and North East Gas Distribution Company Limited have jointly established 12 new CNG stations. Plans are underway to further expand the network, with TNGCL proposing four new stations and NEGDCL planning four additional DBS units in key districts.

At present, Tripura has 34 CNG stations spread across multiple districts. The minister emphasized that these developments reflect the government’s sustained push toward industrial growth, improved infrastructure, and enhanced employment opportunities, positioning the state on a path of steady economic progress and self-reliance.
