Agartala, Sept 24:  CPI(ML) Liberation, All India Kisan Sabha, and All India Khet and Gramin Majdoor Sabha jointly organized a four-hour mass sit-in at Paradise Chowmuhani in Agartala. The protest aimed to highlight 19 demands, including the declaration of Tripura as a national disaster area and the provision of adequate compensation to those affected by the recent floods.

A representative from the organizing bodies stated that continuous rainfall in Tripura has led to severe flooding, impacting nearly 21 lakh people. The state government has reported a financial loss of approximately 18,000 crore rupees. Despite this, Tripura has not been declared a national disaster area, and no compensation arrangements have been made by the government. The families of those affected and deceased have yet to receive any financial aid. The organizations are calling for full compensation for farmers and emergency government facilities for those who have lost their jobs, food, and homes in the hills.
