Agartala: Feb 19: The tainted chapter that was written when the dead body of Shahid Mia, who was politically murdered in Charilam, was taken away from the GB Hospital, was repeated on Sunday. According to the details of the incident, 8-10 people led by CPIM worker Dilip Shukladas attacked the house of the village chief in booth no. 43 of Ramchandraghat assembly constituency in Dwarikapur area late on Saturday night. CPI(M) worker Dilip Shukla Das was injured in the counter-resistance. He later died when taken to GB Hospital. After the body was released from the GB hospital on Sunday afternoon, the leaders of the CPIM team discussed with the police that the body would be taken to the state office of the CPIM at the Agartala fair ground through tight security arrangements. After paying last respects there, the body will be taken to the Khoi Party office. Then the dead body will be taken to Kalyanpur house. Accordingly, after leaving the mortuary of GB Hospital with the dead body, the police took the dead body to the area adjacent to the heritage park of Kunjban area and left for Khowai. Then CPIM activists and supporters blocked the hearse and started protesting on the streets. Extreme tension is created. CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury, Left Front Convener Narayan Kar, Former Minister Manik Dey and many activist supporters were present. For a long time CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury had a war of words with SDP and Paramita Pandey. When the police refused to give permission, the situation became tenser.CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury said, is there any law in the country? The police are trying to take away the body by force. But the dead body is not being allowed to be taken to the CPIM state office even after claiming to be the deceased’s son. Permission was sought from the police to take the morgue to the CPIM state office for 15 minutes. The police initially gave permission but later refused to take the dead body away showing inhumanity, the extreme brutality of the police. He said the Director General of State Police Amitabh Ranjan is claiming that the murder was due to personal enmity. In view of this, Jitendra Chowdhury said that this kind of brutality is due to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah assigning this Amitabh Ranjan as the director general of the state police. Where people could not be saved, dead bodies are not allowed to pay their last respects. He said that Taliban rule is going on in a way. He also said that BJP’s rule of brutality in the state is about to end. So this time BJP has started violating humanity. Nothing can be more shameful than this. Later, Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman rushed there. The police officials were asked to know if there is any law that the body cannot be taken to the party office to pay respects? In view of that, the police officer could not give any answer. Then after four long hours the protest was called off and the body was brought to the foot of the Gandhi statue adjacent to the circuit house in a silent procession to pay its last respects.Leader of Opposition Manik Sarkar and Left Front and Congress activists paid their last respects there by offering floral tributes. On this day, the leader of the opposition party said about the role of the police that it is the weakness of the police not to allow the workers to pay their respects at the party office. And in this a political intervention worked. The political leadership controlled the DG. And DG has taken this role in the decision of that political leadership. It is not supportable. The opposition leader said that it is not desirable for democracy. Later the dead body was taken to Kalyanpur residence.
