Agartala, January 5: There will be no parking space in the Netaji school grounds and the state government has no intention of imposing such a force. Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Deepak Majumdar said this at a press conference today.
On this day, he said that traffic is increasing day by day in Agartala city. As a result, the biggest problem now is parking. A few days ago, in a meeting, some places in the city were discussed for parking arrangements. The Netaji school ground was discussed in the same way. When the school authorities were informed, they did not agree. As a result, the corporation moved away from this thinking.
According to him, not only Netaji School but also many other alternative places were discussed in the meeting that day. That was just the initial discussion. But some vested interests started clamoring that Netaji school ground or parking will be destroyed. The initial discussion to be done was that the underground parking system would be the same as the above ground but with an astroturf field which the corporation and the state government had planned to improve.
On this day, he also said that since the school authorities did not agree, it was brought back. Similarly, the corporation is thinking of making many more places in Agartala city as parking places. A few days ago, the state government allocated Rs 6 crore for the boundary wall and water drainage system of the school. As a result, he has requested the interested parties not to play politics on this matter.
