Agartala, August 3: Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Monday inaugurated the State-level launch of the “10 Crore Addiction-Free India Pledge Campaign” and the “Universal Brotherhood Blood Donation Drive” at Gyanoday Bhawan, Brahma Kumaris Aralia Centre in Agartala. The programmes were organised in honour of B.K. Dr. Dadi Prakashmaniji, a revered spiritual leader of the Brahma Kumaris, to promote a healthy, addiction-free society and encourage voluntary blood donation.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor emphasized the importance of collective efforts in building a society free from substance abuse. He said addiction has become one of the major social challenges affecting individuals, families and communities, particularly the younger generation. He urged people from all walks of life to take the pledge against addiction and actively contribute to creating a healthier and more responsible society.

Governor Nallu highlighted that awareness campaigns, coupled with community participation, play a crucial role in preventing drug abuse and promoting positive values among youth. He appreciated the Brahma Kumaris for taking the initiative to launch the nationwide pledge campaign and for spreading the message of peace, self-discipline and spiritual empowerment.

The Governor also inaugurated the Universal Brotherhood Blood Donation Drive, describing voluntary blood donation as one of the noblest acts of humanitarian service. He encouraged eligible citizens, especially young people, to come forward and donate blood regularly, noting that a single unit of blood can save multiple lives and strengthen the state’s healthcare system.

The event witnessed the participation of senior officials, members of the Brahma Kumaris organisation, social workers, healthcare professionals, students and volunteers, who pledged to support the campaign’s objectives. Many participants also took part in the blood donation drive organised as part of the programme.

Speakers at the event highlighted the teachings and contributions of B.K. Dr. Dadi Prakashmaniji, whose lifelong commitment to spiritual values, peace and social service continues to inspire millions across the country.

The twin initiatives aim to mobilise citizens towards a nationwide movement against addiction while promoting the spirit of universal brotherhood through voluntary blood donation. The programmes reflect a shared commitment to building a healthier, compassionate and socially responsible India through public participation and collective action.
