Four Fishermen Missing After Tornado Hits Dumbur Water Body

Agartala: March 24:  A devastating tornado struck the Dumbur water body in Gandaacherra district on Saturday night, leaving four fishermen missing. Rescue efforts by the Gandaacherra Fire Service and Disaster Management department have been underway since early morning, with the recovery of one fisherman’s body. However, the search continues for the remaining three.

Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha expressed profound sorrow over the tragic incident. Eyewitness accounts reveal that the four fishermen were fishing in the Dumbur water body within the Sadananda Para area of Gandaacherra when the tornado struck around 9 pm, sweeping them away.

The missing fishermen have been identified as Hari Das (45), Pradip Das (46), Jyotish Mallick (50), and Sanjit Nandy. As the community grapples with this loss, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha assured the families of the missing fishermen that the administration would extend all possible assistance during this difficult time.
