Agartala, Mar 03:: In a significant political development, Samrat Roy, the former state president of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), has crossed party lines to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Accompanied by more than 200 students and youths, Roy made his allegiance official today.
At the BJP state office, Samrat Roy, once a prominent Youth Congress leader, firmly grasped the hand of MLA Sushant Dev, the president of Yuva Morcha Pradesh. The symbolic gesture marked his transition to the BJP fold. Amit Rakshit, BJP General Secretary, and Sushant Dev extended warm greetings to the newcomers, emphasizing the party’s inclusive ethos.
Earlier in the day, students marched in front of Rabindra Bhavan, pledging their support to the BJP. Samrat Roy’s decision to switch parties was accompanied by strong criticism of the Congress. His impassioned speech raised pertinent questions about the Congress’s future prospects in the state.
As the political landscape shifts, all eyes are now on how this move will impact the upcoming elections and the dynamics of Tripura politics.
