Agartala: Jan 24: Five Bangladeshi nationals, including two children, have been arrested by Sabroom police station for illegally entering Tripura by evading the Border Security Force (BSF). A specific case has been filed against them.
Bangladeshi infiltration into Tripura is a frequent occurrence, despite strict surveillance by the BSF. Cases of infiltration by crossing the barbed wire fence through agents have become a daily affair. This morning, Sabroom police station received news that five members of the same family had crossed the barbed wire fence and entered Tripura in the remote tribal area of Magrum ADC Village under Sabroom. They were subsequently arrested.
Nityananda Sarkar, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Sabroom, informed that based on secret information, the police station received news that Bangladeshis would enter Tripura through the barbed wire fence in the remote tribal area of Magrum ADC Village under Sabroom. Based on that information, a joint operation was conducted by the police and BSF.
He further stated that with the assistance of the BSF, these five Bangladeshi infiltrators were arrested from the Magrum ADC Village area and brought to Sabrum police station. The arrested individuals are Sontan Mishra Dey (35), Tanni Dey (25), Narayanee Dey (57), and their two daughters aged three and a half and two and a half years. The entire family is from Rangamati, Bangladesh.
