Eighty students of Takarjala Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya fell ill after consuming food from school canteen

Agartala: Jan 28: Eighty students of Takarjala Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Sipahijala district fell seriously ill after consuming food from the school canteen. The District Magistrate of Sipahijala and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Jamujala rushed to the spot. The sick students are undergoing treatment at the Takarjala Community Health Center, with initial suspicions pointing to food poisoning.

Upon receiving news of the incident, Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, the District Magistrate of Sipahijala, visited the school canteen. He found that food items were scattered and expired spices were being used in an unscientific and unhygienic manner. The District Magistrate immediately ordered the disposal of these items and issued a show-cause notice to the in-charge of the canteen. He also visited the Takarjala Community Health Center to inquire about the treatment of the sick students.

 

Jaiswal spoke with the hospital doctors and emphasized the importance of providing food to the students in a hygienic environment at the school. He instructed the necessary measures to be taken. Parents, upon hearing about the incident, rushed to the hospital, worried about their children.
