East Agartala Police Seize Marijuana Worth 70 Lakhs

Agartala: Sept 28: In a recent operation, the East Agartala Police successfully intercepted a vehicle and recovered 45 packets of marijuana, with an estimated market value of 70 lakhs rupees. The raid was conducted based on confidential information received by the police.

Police Superintendent Dr. Kiran Kumar reported that the police had been tipped off about a truck transporting marijuana to another state. Acting on this intelligence, the police conducted a raid in the Agartala Chandrapur stand area, where they intercepted a vehicle from Nagaland. Upon searching the vehicle, 45 packets of marijuana, weighing a total of 355 kg, were found hidden in a compartment.

The driver, Mithun Karmakar, a resident of Ramnagar, was arrested at the scene. The vehicle is currently detained at the College Tilla outpost. Dr. Kiran Kumar confirmed that the marijuana was being transported with the intention of smuggling it to a fair.
