Agartala, July 14 — As the festive season begins to stir the cultural heartbeat of Tripura, the much-awaited Durga Puja celebrations have taken their first grand step with the “Khuti Puja” and theme unveiling by Shibnagar Modern Club and Amra Tarun Dal under the Banamalipur assembly constituency.
Held on Monday, the event was graced by Rajya Sabha MP and Tripura BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee, who commended the organizers for their creativity and commitment to both cultural heritage and community service.
This year’s puja theme, “Swapner Udan” (Flight of Dreams), promises to be a soulful celebration of purity, aspiration, and devotion. Bhattacharjee described the event as more than the start of a religious festival — calling it a “social and cultural awakening” where art and spirituality meet to uplift society.
With a budget of around ₹30 lakh, the Durga Puja by Shibnagar Modern Club and Amra Tarun Dal is expected to be a major attraction in Agartala. Beyond the aesthetics, Bhattacharjee lauded the clubs for their year-round efforts in social service — including blood donation camps, community outreach, and initiatives to engage youth in sports and recreation, especially in the fight against drug abuse.
He also highlighted the increasing involvement of women in club activities, aligning it with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s women-centric governance model that promotes education, empowerment, and self-reliance.
Bhattacharjee further praised the BJP-led Tripura government and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for ensuring peaceful and violence-free Durga Puja festivities in recent years, emphasizing the importance of cultural harmony and community participation in making such events successful.
With preparations now underway, anticipation is high as Tripura prepares to welcome the divine mother with grandeur and devotion.
