Agartala, May 20: A practical training programme on Solar Photovoltaic (PV) installation is currently being conducted at the New Direction Educational Society center in Tripura under the government’s DDU-GKY 2.0 initiative, aimed at equipping youth with industry-relevant skills and expanding employment opportunities in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector.
The initiative is closely linked with the objectives of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and the National Solar Mission, both of which seek to strengthen India’s clean energy framework and encourage wider adoption of renewable energy sources across the country. Through this training programme, participants are receiving hands-on exposure to modern solar technologies and practical knowledge required for real-world applications.
The three-month course, designed in accordance with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF), focuses on training participants as Solar PV Technicians. During the programme, trainees are learning various aspects of solar photovoltaic systems, including installation procedures, maintenance practices, safety measures, and operational techniques.
Officials associated with the training centre said the programme is intended not only to provide technical knowledge but also to create opportunities for youth to become self-reliant and confident in building careers in the green energy sector. The practical sessions are designed to ensure that participants develop industry-ready skills that can help them secure employment or pursue entrepreneurial ventures in the renewable energy field.
They emphasized that as India moves steadily toward cleaner and more sustainable sources of energy, demand for trained professionals in the solar industry is expected to increase significantly. Such skill-development initiatives are therefore becoming essential in creating a workforce capable of meeting future energy needs.
The programme also seeks to contribute to broader developmental goals by encouraging local participation in sustainable technologies and promoting environmentally responsible practices. By preparing young people for emerging opportunities in renewable energy, the initiative is expected to support grassroots economic development while contributing to national priorities in the energy sector.
With increasing emphasis on green energy and sustainable growth, the training programme is laying a strong foundation for a new generation of skilled professionals who can play an active role in India’s renewable energy transformation.
