Agartala: Dec 23: An awareness walk to end gender discrimination was organized on Friday. Organized by the Tripura Urban Livelihoods Mission, this walk starts from the front of Ujjayanta Palace and ends in front of the Rabindra Bhavan. The Deputy Mayor of Municipal Corporation, Monika Das Dao, who was present, said that this awareness walk was organized to eliminate gender discrimination and family, social, economic problems on women in the society.
250 self help group members participated in the march. Gender discrimination is acceptable, not tolerated. All the society should wake up from this. Everyone should see that special classes are not privileged or deprived. The deputy mayor also said that the march is organized so that women are not deprived of any rights. Mayor-in-Council Sampa Sen Sarkar and others were also present on the day.
