Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge of West Agartala Police Station, Rana Chatterjee, said that legal action has been initiated against the accused. According to police reports, the group was involved in unruly behaviour, engaged in heated arguments with local residents, and allegedly obstructed police personnel while on duty.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Suman Dey, Hriday Malakar, and Surajit Deb, along with one juvenile. Police sources stated that the situation escalated quickly, prompting immediate intervention by law enforcement personnel to restore order in the area.

A case has been registered at the police station, and all accused are scheduled to be produced before a local court on Tuesday. The police have indicated that they will seek remand for further interrogation to uncover the intent behind their actions.

OC Chatterjee further revealed that no valid documents or identification supporting their claim of being associated with any NGO were found in their possession. “Their activities and behaviour raised suspicion, and upon verification, we could not find any proof of their affiliation with any registered organisation,” he said.

The incident has sparked concern among local residents, many of whom have expressed anger over the misuse of the NGO label to create disturbances. Citizens have urged authorities to take strict action to deter such incidents and maintain public trust in genuine social organisations.

Police have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine whether the accused were acting independently or as part of a larger group. Authorities also emphasized that any attempt to disrupt public peace or misrepresent identities will be dealt with firmly under the law.
